One of the many lessons I learned through ministering during the summers is that I am responsible for the decisions of many.  When I make decisions it affects others and their decisions.  It challenges me to live a life more pleasing to God so that I can see others living to do the same. To God be the Glory.
It was an absolute blessing to be able to have the opportunity to do college bound. I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through the summer, but I knew that God was going to help me do it. Even in just the last week I was there I saw God work in the lives of my campers and it was just another reminder of how awesome He is. I can honestly say that spending my summer at camp was exactly where I needed to be for my own personal growth as well as to help the campers, as some were also growing in their walk with the Lord.

My experience with the College Bound program has been amazing! Being able to touch the lives of kids who come to camp, to love them as Christ loved me, and to share the Gospel! Serving God there is helping me to be able to serve God in other ways!

It was so much fun working with kids for an entire summer! It was amazing to see God at work in many of their hearts. There were times, though, that my patience was tried over and over again, and I started questioning God. I asked Him, "Why are you allowing me to go through these circumstances? What good is it doing me?" His answer: James 1:2-4, "Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials. Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." That was a major encouragement.

Out of all the summer's I've come to work at camp, this was the summer I felt most called to come and serve God. I had many opportunities where I could see God stretching and using me. One of the things I prayed about this summer was for more patience. Usually after CYIA (Christian Youth In Action) and the first two weeks of camp I'm ready for a break, to be able to do something besides being a counselor, but this summer God really gave me the strength to endure. Even at the end of the summer when I was tired, God really gave me the grace I needed to finish the summer strong. I bonded more then ever with my campers and junior counselors and I'm looking forward to staying in contact with those kids and teens during the year!  God showed me so much love this summer and I really saw myself grow in many areas of my Christian walk.

I had the great pleasure of serving with CEF’s College Bound Program for 4 years. Over those years, my faith was encouraged and my desire to work with youth and especially teens grew. God used those years to shape my desire and now I use so many of those lessons with the teenage students that I am blessed to teach every day. I highly recommend working a summer with open eyes to how God will lead you in the future!
